Comic Book Anthology
60 Miles are delighted to be returning with a brand new arts, heritage and community project about the people of our hometown of Northampton, made possible with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
We are creating a comic book anthology, championing local communities who exist outside the mainstream narrative of Northampton’s rich social history.
Facilitated by Northampton legend Laura Graham, six local community groups have been paired with six artists to capture the range of experiences that make up our hometown through an exciting range of perspectives, forms and styles.
Each artist will create a 10-page comic following three facilitated sessions with their group. The comics will be supplemented by two additional pieces (such as interviews, links to oral history recordings or research pieces) overseen by Heritage Communicators. Crucially, all of the material will be collated into a single anthology, uniting Northamptonian experiences together for people now and in the future.
The final anthology will be launched as part of a 2-week exhibition, with large-scale extracts of the artwork displayed at a central Northampton venue later in the year.
